With summertime comes BBQ’s, Picnics, swimming, and all the watermelon one can eat. But, it also brings out many critters that love to latch on to us and our sweet fur babies.

Pet Treater always wants to remind our pet parents to take extra special care of their fur babies, because they matter to us too! Some of the worst culprits to infest our babies are fleas, heart-worms, and ticks and the summer time seems to bring them out in droves!

There are many brands available to help control the onset of these insects. The main point is to be aware and be preventative. Disease is carried by many insects that can infest our pets.

I personally use Seresto® with our doggie and know many people that use it for their kitties. It is amazing how it protects for up to 8 full months–yes 8 full months!

Thinking, “Y’all wouldn’t want those bugs either!!”

Some of the benefits to using a preventative Flea and Tick Collar like Seresto® :

Seresto® is a unique polymer matrix flea & tick collar that offers a continuous supply of two active ingredients: imidacloprid and flumethrin for effective 8-month protection against fleas and ticks. That’s one convenient, non-greasy, odorless flea and tick collar instead of 8 monthly treatments.”  OK, say what?????:

So, basically it is an easy-to-use, odorless collar that kills and repels fleas and ticks for 8 continuous months–well that works for us. It also aids in the treatment and control of sarcoptic mange and kills lice.

We also find in our household, our puppy likes the collar as it is light-weight and does not require the “off and on” business. You are able to successfully bath your dog once per month with the collar on without limiting the effective potency of the collar!

Remember, there are other preventatives and immunizations that your vet will and can give to your fur babies–so it is always a wise decision to take your pet to the vet!

Now, we do not work personally with any company that offers these amazing collars/preventatives, but we feel that sharing is caring! So the goal here in this blog, is education and support, and a friendly reminder that your sweet pets can’t verbally tell you they are irritated, but watch for the signs and definitely figure it happens whether in a high-rise apartment or on the farm–bugs do not discriminate based on geography.

Please always check with your veterinarian before starting or stopping any prescribed or recommended regimen for your fur babies.

As Always Many Paws,
